Sisters

Sisters
Tatyana Grechina, Sisters, 5 × 7 inches, oil on canvas, 2026.
One of my favorite art practices is taking a visual reference and isolating elements to draw them on their own. I love how it draws the eye to the particularities of each item’s shapes — the slope of the form, the curves and the divots. They feel sensual and yet practical at the same time. In this duo of isolated leaves, the forms become sisters, part of the same plant, yet marked by their individual identities.
