I’m Tatyana, a Longmont, Colorado-based artist and painter with over 30 years of experience in the studio. I now offer 1:1 private painting lessons for older kids and adults!

I design every student’s curriculum uniquely, based on their needs and curiosity — from figure studies and painting from life to process-based abstract works.

1:1 Painting Lessons

Dive into the colorful world of painting — whether you want to improve your technical skills, work on your art school application portfolio, return to your creative roots or learn a new art form. Acrylic, oil, watercolor or gouache all welcome! You can sign up for classes by yourself or with a friend (a duet lesson.)

Private 90-minute Class: $100

Private Class 4-Pack: $340 (save $60!)

90-minute Duet Class: $170 ($85/person)

Duet Class 4-Pack: $600 (comes out to $75/person per class)

For these private and semi-private classes, we chat first about your goals and to see what you’re interested in exploring, and then you’ll recieve a list of materials to bring to class.

I love blending intention, intuition, and chance. In one of my private classes, we’re learning about abstraction and the surrealist movement. In another, we’re completely inverting the way we see depth through shape, painting reflections and making impressionist figure studies in gouache.

Some things we’ve done:

• Exercises to hone spatial awareness.

• Intuitively filling blank space with color, focusing on covering ground and depositing paint over creating the perfect shape.

• Transforming a single piece of art into 4 or more pieces.

• Letting the chance of shuffling change the trajectory of a painting.

• Using tracing paper to simplify a composition’s shapes.

• Working from small compositions to create larger pieces.

• Timed observational studies focusing on contrast.
