Tatyana Grechina, Summer Garden 1, 5 × 7 inches, oil on canvas, 2026.

This summer brought a tangled mass of wildflowers to our little Colorado garden. We planted Brussels sprouts, squash and kale alongside other plants and sprinkled wildflowers in the spaces along the edges of our fence. We watched our son grow in size and curiosity alongside them, investigating the changes every week and “helping” in his own ways.
