sketchbooks
After getting my BFA, I spent a year not knowing what to do. I wasn’t creatively productive in Philly, so I moved home to South Carolina to try to figure it out. “Figuring it out” quickly became booking a spontaneous flight to Costa Rica and spending the next year and a half between Greenville and wherever I could get my hands on.
I had never before traveled like this, and it felt like a magical, continuously self-manifesting cycle that year. From Costa Rica’s Envision Festival’s bamboo and rope installations in the heart of the jungle and volcanoes in Nicaragua, to the hostel in Prague where I met my best friend, the momentum was invigorating. I ended that year in Jerusalem on December 31st.
Throughout the year, I kept a series of sketchbooks to record thoughts and images.
