Torrent, Tarot and Disco Baby

I can’t believe it’s been 5 months since I gave birth to my son. FIVE! So much really does happen in a short period of time.

I write this as I watch him from the baby monitor, kicking around calmly in his crib, playing with the bars, avoiding his nap but still taking advantage of some delicious alone time. Sometimes he looks right at the monitor and smiles, like he knows I’m watching.

September came like

a torrential downpour that equally watered all of my August seeds and ripped away the ones not strong enough to stick.

Alex and I with Nikki (in pink), who co-owns Sandy’s Coffee and Tea in Longmont, CO with her husband.

For those who don’t know, I’m half of the collaborative duo Camp Sublime, and since 2022, we’ve created and are now working to publish a tarot deck, Camp Tarot.

To ring in September, the other half of Camp Sublime, my partner and dear friend Alex, flew to Colorado to meet Oren and Camp Sublime took part in its first live event! We donned our togas and gave tarot readings at Sandy’s Coffee and Tea at the shop’s annual August Bacchus event.

It was a beautiful way to connect with the community and we were humbled by the positive feedback we received. Truly, sharing that deck is like sending our child into the world — and we are so grateful for the overwhelmingly positive response.

Watch our little recap video!

We’re gearing up to launch our Kickstarter to bring this deck into more hands, so keep your eyes peeled for updates on that!

I’ve also been doing readings on the @camp.sublime Instagram and @camp.sublime Tiktok.

DISCO BABY | 9.13.25

September continued to

bring opportunities to connect with the community through art. I was selected as one of seven finalists to create a panel for the City of Longmont’s Creative District’s Disco Dumpster Project. The city passed an ordinance requiring new composting totes, and Longmont asked its artists to come up with creative solutions to beautify them, under one condition — DISCO!

With two of the other Disco Dumpster artists, @deuxdesigncolorado and @angienordstrumdesign!

We were given two weeks to complete our panels, which we completed at a live painting event on the last day of Longmont Arts Week.

My painting, “Disco Baby” now permanently lives with the bins by Longmont Public Library. The live event got a little rainy but was a great way to meet some of the artists in the community and have some friends drop by! (Including a friend I hadn’t seen in over 20 years who came to stay!)

The statement I wrote about Disco Baby pretty much sums it up:

“Disco Baby came into the world sparked by a sense of delight and wonder I experienced after the birth of my son. All usual programming halted May 1. For the first time since college, I unplugged from the eternal stream of emails, lists and responsibilities that washed every summer into fall.

As my brain recalibrated itself in its new identity and slowly came back online, I got to focus on what mattered most: time spent with my son. Seeing the world through his eyes, everything became a curiosity. Disco Baby mirrors the perception of life through a child’s eyes, with mobiles of disco balls dancing above, reflected in Baby's sunglasses and set to the backdrop of our beautiful Longmont mountains.”
